About NewDANCEfest
NewDANCEfest, presented by Eisenhower Dance Detroit, is Michigan’s premier festival-style dance intensive. A multidimensional summer gathering bringing artists together from a variety of different stages of development within the profession, NDF provides daily technique classes in a variety of styles, choreography seminars, discussion forums, critique sessions, mentorship opportunities, informal showings and performances. NDF offers a space and opportunities for all; dancers and emerging choreographers alike!
Dancers will be split into groups according to age and ability.
Our NewDANCEfest Youth division also returns this summer for ages 10-14, fostering creativity and confidence in a supportive environment! Dancers will partake in classes in a variety of techniques, in addition to gaining experience in movement creation and composition. This youth intensive culminates in an informal showing for family and friends!
Acceptance into NewDANCEfest is by audition ONLY. Click HERE for audition dates and requirements.
Why NewDANCEfest?
-
"This experience taught me a lot more about myself as a dancer, highlighting both my strengths and weaknesses. I am now more aware of how I can improve. I have an incentive to expand my movement vocabulary as a dancer."

"As a low income working artist, it is difficult for me to trade a few weeks of my work to spend time furthering my education. NDF greatly expanded my artistry, and gave me new tools and concepts I can’t imagine going forward without as I continue my career. Funding from the Abrams Foundation was the difference in me choosing to attend NDF or not, and I’m so grateful I was able to participate. This was a core experience that will forever be a part of me as I continue to create and share my art in the future."
